About CHP

The ILSI Center for Health Promotion (ILSI CHP) is a non-profit research and education organization dedicated to the promotion of health in individuals and populations on a global basis. ILSI CHP seeks to enhance the opportunity for individuals to achieve their full potential unencumbered by avoidable health problems. The Center achieves its mission through:

  • Targeted research and investigations to identify innovative solutions to major public health challenges.

  • Collaboration with community-based organizations to design, test, and implement intervention strategies that address these challenges.

  • Building coalitions and partnerships among public and private institutions to enhance programmatic opportunities.

The majority of the ILSI Center for Health Promotion's funding is obtained from foundations who share and seek to advance the Center's philanthropic and public health purposes. Where appropriate, ILSI CHP obtains grants and contracts from government agencies, individuals, industry partners, and international bodies to pursue specific projects.

Programs within the Center include the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Program, which promotes healthful physical activity and nutrition among children, adolescents, and adults; and Project IDEA (Iron Deficiency Elimination Action), dedicated to the elimination of iron deficiency anemia on a global basis. ILSI Center for Health Promotion programs capitalize on ILSI's scientific strengths, including expertise in nutrition and other food-related topics, and its global network of members, branches, and collaborators in industry, government, and academia.
